Mark is from South Africa, having moved to France in 2015, based in St Etienne, where he taught in Biology and Renewable Energy Development.

For the past 9 years he has worked in the Renewable Energy Industry, most recently consulting on renewable energy development, primarily in the Sub- Sahara market, where he evaluated new renewable energy project development opportunities and due diligence aspects. 

Prior to this, he acted as a Mine Rehabilitation Coordinator for 5 years in South Africa, a Concession Manager for 4 years in Botswana, an Environmental Manager for a Timber company, and a researcher for a conservation NGO. He has several publications on conservation-related subjects, the most recent of which appears in Ecological Indicators, 2019

He joined FRES NL in September 2019 as Regional Operations Manager for Sub-Sahara Africa, with a primary focus on the strengthening of existing projects and new country development.
